Wow what a gem! Everything has a kick of flavor and for a good price. Way more value than panda express.
I am a stickler for chow mein and potstickers and I actually really like them here.
Selection shrinks as they get close to closing hour, and I usually have to wait for at least 1 part of my meal to be cooked but I don't mind because it's never more than 5 minutes.
They don't leave the lights on because they get so much sunlight but I would still appreciate just a couple lights turned on. -

My go to when we have parties. I
Normally order the salt & pepper fish or shrimp. Affordable pricing & good taste! -

Came here cause of the 4 stars.
Although the place looks like a rundown Chinese restaurant, they got the salt and pepper dishes down, and for such a great price. The Asian cashier girl was nice too, and when I was ordering the s/p crab, she kept checking on it for me and letting me know the time frame.
You can't beat the salt and peppers prawns or fish or ribs for around $9, and the s/p crab for $14.99 is a steal. The flavor is delicious and addicting. You have to put work into peeling the shrimp and cracking the shell of the crabs though. The crab shells are easy to crack.
You can either order the food fresh and wait, or have the ones they display for a quick in and out meal. It's a bit greasy but that's what fast food Chinese is all about. They didn't have crab puffs/ crab rangoons when I came today...
The labels for the food doesn't all correspond with each other, so I would just look at what I was ordering instead of going with the labels.
The small parking lot is shared with Little Ceasars next door, but people are constantly coming and going so it isn't hard to get parking. -

I'm not afraid of cheap Chinese joints. Never have been. Could be part of the NYer in me. I'll wander into any place and that's even after a wine country pal claimed that one joint was serving freshly stuck frogs as chicken, but I digress.
This review is based on a single trip to Bamboo Garden on a hot summer day (2017). It's not much cooler indoors. It might've been hotter. There's a steam table. The lunch special is $5.75 and includes rice and chow mein (in whatever proportions you like) and three other items. It's worth asking about just what the options are. I didn't and later learned about the breadth of choices. Also, probably worth sticking with three servings of whichever choice looks best. Do not bet across the field.
I went with steamed rice cause that's how I roll. The steamed rice was OK, not great. The shrimp with vegetables dish was the best thing. One dish was mystery meat. Overall, wasn't the worst place ever, but I wouldn't waste time on another visit. -

This is IMHO times a hundred.
Well to start - This place is in a filthy looking building on a crappy weed infested property that had an old couch by the sidewalk in a really sh**ty part of town. The actual "restaurant" is in a decrepid building that looks like its a quarter inch from being red tagged. It needed painting 30 years ago. The windows were dirty & aged. I have no idea why I didn't run away at that point (I was being WAY too nice when I innocently told myself "Don't judge a book by its cover").
Inside was a semi-coherent man who served up my food from the eight (or so) steamer trays available. I asked for the chow mein, the sweet and sour tofu & the PorkWhateverItWas. The chow mein was noodles & little else. I asked for "just the tofu" but the guy gave me the eggplant too (which looked like 5", slimy fillets of saggingZaza, oily fish). The pork was *weird* - suspiciously soft and from cuts that were unfamiliar (and I went to cooking school). Everything was super oily.
The good side?: From what I could tell, the kitchen & the cook were *clean* (go figure LOL). The large serving of food was only $6.95.
I ended up eating just the tofu (which was perfectly lightly fried (SERIOUSLY - it was great) & some of the chow mein. The other food was so bad that I threw it away, rather than give it to the junky who walked by.
I hope this is clear enough for ya. Go to the Wah Shine in Vacaville instead (but skip the rolled bean curd. Look at my other review).
